Deutsch Zwerling (nee, Klein), Susanne, 93, of Bridgewater, formerly of Stratford, CT and New Milford, NJ, passed away on June 5, 2017, surrounded by her family & friends at Brandywine Assisted Living.

Susanne was born in Vienna, Austria where she lived until the age of 14. She and her family fled to the United States in 1938 and settled in New York City where they started a handbag design and manufacturing company, Martha Klein Designs.

Susanne met her first love Alfred "Fred' Deutsch at the YMHA in Washington Heights and had a beautiful marriage for over 30 years. Susanne and Fred raised their two daughters in New Milford, NJ. Sadly Fred passed away in 1978. Susanne later met and married her second love Jerry Zwerling. They lived in New Milford for a short time and then moved to Stratford, CT where they lived for over 20 years. Susanne resided in Stratford until 2011 when Jerry passed away and she moved to Brandywine Assisted Living in Bridgewater . Susanne spent 5 1/2 wonderful years there until suffering a recent injury. She gained an extended family with the residents and staff. She had a love of opera and a great passion for the arts, painting, sculpting, and playing bridge, all of which she partook in at Brandywine.

Susanne is predeceased by her husbands Fred Deutsch and Jerry Zwerling, her parents Martha & Leo Klein, and her brother Robert Klein. She is survived by her daughters Sandra Kennedy (John) and Debi Webb (Ron), her step daughter Marian Sugano (Tom) and step-son David Zwerling, her former step-daughter in law Karen, many nieces and nephews, and her step-grandchildren Helen and Danny Sugano and Jemma and Laura Zwerling.

Funeral services are 11 AM, Friday, June 9, at Robert Schoem's Menorah Chapel, 150 NJ-4, Paramus, NJ, followed by burial at Beth El Cemetery in Paramus, NJ. On Sunday, at 3 PM, there will be a celebration of Susanne's life at Brandywine Assisted Living, 2005 Route 22 West, Bridgewater, NJ.
