Eleanor Betty Levy
Eleanor Betty (nee Schryer) Levy, 86 of Fair Lawn, NJ passed away surrounded by her loving family on July 8, 2017.
Ellie was born on March 14, 1931 to Morris and Lena Schryer. She was raised in Riverdale, New York where she met and married her dear husband of sixty-four years, Harold Levy. They moved to Fair Lawn in 1963 where she raised their children, Cindy and Bradley.
She was a long-time volunteer at the Barnet Memorial Hospital in Paterson, where she received numerous commendations and recognitions. Ellie attended Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck where she majored in Fine Arts. She then began a career as a librarian at the Johnson Public Library in Hackensack, where she worked for twenty-five years. Ellie was very involved with the Hackensack community; her kindness, compassion and generosity touched many lives. In addition, she also worked part time at the Mahwah Public Library.
Ellie also had a lifelong love for animals, art, books and cooking. But more than anything else, Ellie was devoted to her family.
In addition to being survived by her husband and children, Ellie is also survived by her granddaughter Robyn and daughter-in-law Erica. Following a private service, interment was at Mt. Eden Cemetery, Valhalla, New York.
