Funeral Date: Monday, 17 July 2017

Sydney H. Hamet, Age 75, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, where for several months he battled an aggressive cancer.  He was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He moved to Park Ridge 27 years ago.

He was a graduate of the University of Maryland where he graduated at the top of his class earning a BS degree in Pharmacy. He served for 20 years as a career officer in the US Public Health Service, primarily stationed in Perry Point, Maryland where he manufactured and packaged drug products for US government clinical trials and performed analysis on US stock piles. He resigned his commission as a Commander in 1983.  Thereafter, for 35 years he held executive leadership positions in Pharmaceutical Quality and Regulatory Compliance within branded and generic pharmaceutical firms located in Florida, New York, and New Jersey.

Syd was an avid golfer, and sports enthusiast.  He and his wife loved to dance, and enjoyed attending the theatre.  He had a great comedic wit and sense of humor. His jokes, delivery and timing on punch lines would bring a smile to everyone’s face. What was most special was watching his delight when delivering the punch-line and laughing at his own jokes.

Survivors include: his wife of 26 years Susan Hamet, his daughter Sima Cooper, her husband Brian and his beloved grandson Ethan of Lake Worth, Florida, his daughter Sara Bell and her husband Brian of Tamarac, Florida, his step-daughter Christie Simpson-Torres of Westwood, and his step-son Steve F. Simpson, his wife Kristen and their son Steve Walter of Park Ridge, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend services at 1 p.m., Monday, July 17 at Robert Schoem's Menorah Chapel, 150 NJ Route 4 (Paramus, NJ). Entombment will be at Cedar Park’s Garden of Memories Mosoluem immediately following the chapel service.
