Joyce Lorber Schulman, aged 84, of Hackensack, New Jersey, passed away on July 19, 2017 after a brief hospitalization. Joyce was born in the Bronx, NY in 1933 to the late Isadore Lorber and Henrietta Lorber London. Following graduation from high school, Joyce attended Brandeis University.
Joyce worked at Temple Emanuel in Englewood, NJ as school secretary for over 30 years. Joyce was active in the Jewish community in her synagogues (Temple Emanuel of Englewood/Closter and Temple Beth-El of Hackensack) and helped prepare and deliver holiday food baskets for Jewish Family Service for many years. Joyce had a great sense of humor, loved her family, and took great pride in bringing the family together for the Shabbos and holidays.
Joyce is survived by her loving children and grandchildren: Daniel Schulman, his wife Ellen and their children Scott and Stephanie of Dumont; daughter Debra Wagner of Staten Island; son Ivan Schulman, his wife Linda and their children Adam and Brianna of Tuxedo Park, NY; daughter Jill Lavitsky, her husband Eric and their children Jonathan and Aaron of Bridgewater. She is also survived by her brother Ezra Lorber and his wife Madelyn of North Miami Beach, FL; sister Judith Goldrich and her husband Henry of Boca Raton, FL; sister Pearl Bergstein and her husband Michael of Tenafly.
Funeral services will be held at Robert Schoem's Menorah Chapel (Paramus, NJ) at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 20.
