December 1924 – July 27, 2017 Spira – Seymour Leonard, of Cliffside Park, NJ and Palm Beach Gardens, FL and more recently of Paramus, NJ passed away unexpectedly on July 27th. He was born in Paterson, New Jersey to Meyer and Anita Spira. Beloved and devoted husband to Jeanette for 65 years who predeceased him earlier this year, loving father to David (Shan), Leslie (Mark), Ellie (Fred); awe inspiring grandfather to Heather, Daniel, Jeremy (Sessy), Zachary, Ethan and Kayla and loving great-grandfather to Arden and friend and hero to so many others. Seymour was a longtime resident of Ridgewood, NJ where he and Jeanette raised their family. Seymour was a mechanical engineer with degrees from Cornell University and NJ Institute of Technology. He served during WWII as an officer on board the Intrepid. He was Chairman at Kew Management Corp a commercial real estate company with properties in the NoMad neighborhood, Colorado, and Florida. He and Jeanette spent a lifetime devoted to family and friends and committed to philanthropy. Seymour was a Founder of Temple Israel in Ridgewood, NJ and Founder and Board Member of Jewish Home of Rockleigh and Board Member of the MorseLife Home in West Palm Beach and other Jewish charities. He and Jeanette were enthusiastic supporters of the arts as collectors and lifetime subscribers to theater, ballet, film programs in NY and Palm Beach. They were avid sailors, skiers, golfers and world travelers. Seymour and Jeanette enjoyed many happy years as members of Edgewood Country Club and Frenchman’s Creek Country Club. Services will be held at Robert Schoem’s Menorah Chapel (W-150 Route 4, Paramus, NJ) at 1:30pm on Monday July 31st, followed by burial at King Solomon Cemetery (Clifton, NJ).
