Funeral Date: Sunday, 20 August 2017
Seymour "Sonny" Haidt - Age 89 of Paramus, NJ and Deerfield Beach, FL passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx, he was a resident of Paramus for over 50 years. Sonny was a decorated Korean War Veteran, serving honorably both overseas and on Governor's Island. He retired at the age of 78, after working more than 40 years in the paper board industry at Simkins Industries and Lowe Paper. He was a lifelong Yankee fan as well as a die hard season ticket holder of the NY Jets. His greatest pleasures were his family and retirement in Florida. His booming voice, heart of gold and larger than life personality will be dearly missed. During this difficult time, he never lost his unique sense of humor. He has lovingly left behind his dearest family: His endlessly devoted wife of 58 years, Blossom (nee Blitz), beloved daughters, devoted sons in law and wonderful grandchildren, Leslie Haidt of Paramus, NJ, Caren Hughes and husband Derek of Easton, PA and their children Savanah and Liam, Nancy Gazda and husband Kenny of Glen Rock, NJ and their children Ilana, Ethan and Arissa. Those planning an expression of sympathy in Sonny's name are asked to consider St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Funeral services will be held at Robert Schoem's Menorah Chapel on Monday, August 21st, 2017 at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at Beth El/Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, NJ.
