Mildred grew up in Brooklyn, New York with her parents, Rose and Max Beckenstein, and sisters Pearl Zimmerman, Cele Greene, Sylvia Lichtiger and Renee Telsey. An interest in bookkeeping and accounting kept Mildred busily employed for thirty years. In addition, during wartime, Mildred was involved in the selling of War Bonds. Her tennis trophies spotlighted her love of the game and, in fact, Mildred played into her early eighties. Playing Mah Jongg, solving crossword puzzles, going to the ballet, and doing aerobics were other activities that filled her life. Mildred also loved music. She was often heard humming themes from various symphonies and also had a soft spot for Frank Sinatra's "Night and Day". By far, her greatest joy was her 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She never tired of attending their school concerts, ball games, dance recitals, camp visiting days, and birthday celebrations. Mildred will be remembered for her devotion to family and friends, her strength of character and her passion for life. A funeral service will be held at Robert Schoem's Menorah Chapel in Paramus, New Jersey on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 1:00pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Richard L.
