Selma B. Dubnick, 95, of Old Tappan, N.J. passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 24th, 2018. Devoted mother of Ruth Levy, Joshua Dubnick, Deborah Levy and Jeffrey Dubnick; beloved grandmother of Micah, Gabriel and Luka. Selma was predeceased by her husband Bernard who passed away in 2002. As a mother of four adolescents, Selma returned to college, earned a bachelor's degree and then a master's degree in counseling at Kean College of New Jersey and went on to become the Director of Graduate Studies at Kean College (Now Kean University). Selma was a staunch advocate for the mentally ill. She was a co-founder of the family organization of the Mid-Bergen Community Mental Health Center in Paramus (Now CarePlus NJ), a long-time board member of the CarePlus Foundation and an active member of Temple Emanuel in Woodcliff Lake. Selma's enthusiasm and love of life included all of the arts, and an avid interest in politics and world affairs. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Selma established scholarships at Kean University and The CarePlus Foundation. Those who wish may make memorial donations to the Dubnick Annual Scholarship for Single Mothers with Dependent Children at the Kean University Foundation (908-737-3340) or the Dubnick Scholarship at the CarePlus Foundation (201-986-5070). The family will receive friends through Wednesday March 28th from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Dubnick home.
