MOSKOWITZ, MIRIAM - passed away at 92 years old on June 21, 2018. Of Delray Beach, FL, & formerly of Paterson, Fair Lawn & Brick NJ. Born in Łódź, Poland. Wife to Sol Moskowitz (predeceased), married for 45 years. Mother of Ann Metnick (husband Neal) of Brick, NJ, Arlene Liebman (husband Stuart) of Fair Lawn, NJ, Grandma to Stacey Lav & David (& Nicole) Metnick, Matthew (& Nicole) Liebman, Joel (& Caitlin) Liebman & Andrew (& Paige) Liebman; Bubbe (great grandma) to Hannah and Sarah Lav, Cooper Liebman & various distant relations in France, Israel, England, Brazil & United States.
She belonged to various temples throughout her long & rich life, such as: The Lodzer Shul & Community Synogogue Hebrew Free School, (Paterson), Temple Beth Sholom, (Fair Lawn), Temple Beth Or, (Brick) Sisterhood, Mitzvah Group, Yiddish Club & Temple Torat Emet (Delray Beach).
Miriam was a Holocaust Survivor of Majdanek and various slave labor camps. She arrived in the US with her husband, Sol, where they settled in Passaic, NJ from the displaced persons camps in Italy, which is where they previously met.
She was affiliated with the following organizations: Farband Labor Zionist Order, Lodzer Society, Life member of Hadassah, Graduate of ORT (Fashion Design), Lecturer, and member PAP Cancer Corps;
US Holocaust Museum Washington, DC & Museum of Jewish Heritage, NY where memorabilia is currently on display. Miriam was an accomplished musician, linguist, tailor, cook and Holocaust speaker. We are grateful to her many caregivers over the years.
Funeral services will be held at Robert Schoem’s Menorah Chapel (Paramus, NJ) on Monday, June 25th at 11:00 AM. Donations may be made to: Jewish Family & Children’s Services of either Ocean County, Northern New Jersey or Boca Raton earmarked Holocaust Survivors Fund, Hadassah or ORT.
