Marcia Civin Levens, age 92, passed away in her home in Emerson, NJ, on Sunday, October 21, 2018. She graduated with a B.A. degree in Education from Brooklyn College and later received M.A. degrees in both Reading and in Administration and Supervision from William Paterson University. She spent over 30 years teaching, as well as training teachers, in the New York City School System. Her last years there were spent working as Assistant Director in the Office of Curriculum Development and Support for the NYC Board of Education and as an adjunct professor at Manhattan College and Adelphi University. She was active in Brandeis, BBW and ADL in both New Jersey and Florida. Marcia was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, community volunteer and friend. She loved to entertain, play cards, read, travel and complete the Sunday Times Crossword Puzzle every week. Preceded in death by her parents Milton and Ida Civin, husband Sheldon Levens, sister Dorothy Reich and beloved grandson Kenny Cardaci. She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Marilyn and James R. Rappaport, Susan and Greg MacLean, and Rilly and Louis Miron. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Dylan and Amy Samuel Maclean, Matt and Kirsten Chen MacLean, Drew Rappaport and his fiancee, Erin Standish, Brett Rappaport, Val Cardaci and her fiancee, Joe Asaro, and a great-granddaughter, Madeline MacLean. The family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Home Instead Senior Care, as well as Valley Hospice. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at 11AM at Robert Schoem's Menorah Chapel. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. The family will be sitting Shiva at the home of Greg and Susan MacLean Thursday afternoon and evening, as well as Friday afternoon until sundown.
