Funeral Date: Monday, 29 October 2018
Bradford (Brad) Matthew Hoey born on May 9,1993 at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, New Jersey, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 in the hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Raised in Teaneck and Oradell, NJ. Brad graduated from River Dell High School in 2011, received his bachelor’s degree from Kutztown University in 2016 and was scheduled to receive his master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Shippensburg University in 2019. He planned to pursue a Doctorate in Sport’s Psychology.
In his short life, Brad touched countless individuals. His charismatic personality, kindness towards everyone, brilliant sense of humor and love of family were just a few of his best qualities. He cared greatly for his family, friends and teammates. He worked hard on his academics and was poised for a career in Sports Psychology. He loved sports, teaching and coaching others. His charm, stature and handsome attributes landed him a role as a model for Hollister Company. Something his close family loved to tease him about because, as a baby, his nickname was “Mr. Mushy” because he was such a sweet, adorable baby.
In life he had many loves. His parents Donald and Janis, sister Alexandra, grandparents, Marilyn and Charlie, late grandparents Rita and Leo, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, girlfriend Caroline, close family friends, teammates and improving the world we live in.
His longtime girlfriend Caroline Bruder, who he met at Kutztown University never left his side during his illness, surgery and rehabilitation in 2015. Their love for each other was pure and an inspiration. The entire Bruder Family embraced Brad into their lives and family.
Brad was a champion pole vaulter. At River Dell he was named “All Bergen County, 2011.” During his undergraduate years at Kutztown University Golden Bears he was part of the Track and Field Team and student assistant. In graduate school, he went on to be Assistant Coach for the Shippensburg University Raider’s Track Team.
Though Brad’s time on earth was short, his life was rich in love and achievement. He will be missed by many and forgotten by none.
Brad is survived by his parents Janis and Donald Hoey, his Sister Alexandra Hoey and Teddy, Grandparents Charles and Marilyn Maer, Aunt Linda and Uncle Mike Amendola, Uncle Bill and Aunt Kelly Maer, Uncle John and Aunt Maureen Kiene, Cousins, Jake and Brett Amendola, Alison Maer, and Christopher, Jackie and Kevin Kiene and the Palmer-Alonso, Madden-Dulbrrg, Camino and Balzano Families.
