Carol Lazerowitz passed away peacefully at home on Thursday March 4, 2021. A lifelong resident of Fair Lawn she was 88 years old. Her parents, Katie and Morris Blender, longtime dairy farmers in Fair Lawn, had 9 children. She was their last surviving child. Carol was married for 39 years to her first husband the late Robert Lazerowitz. She was then married to the late Joseph Peligal for 22 years. A loving mother, she is survived by her daughter Linda Ayes (Jeffrey) and her son Jay Lazerowitz (Joy). She was the very proud grandmother of Mitchell Ayes (Ariana), Kimberly Ayes, Robert Ayes (Charlotte), Evan Lazerowitz (Taylor) and Ross Lazerowitz. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends.
Carol was a very active congregant of the Fair Lawn Jewish Center/CBI and was particularly involved in their fundraising campaigns. She was an active member of the Sisterhood of the FLJC/CBI having held various Board positions. She also had held the position of Chairperson for the regions Torah Fund Campaign to raise money for the Jewish Theological Seminary. Carol was a Lifetime member of Hadassah and was also active in the National Council of Jewish Women and the Fair Lawn Senior Center. Carol through the years enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing golf, mah jongg, bridge and canasta, as well as, traveling throughout the world. Carol throughout her career was a business executive who enjoyed a long career in many different fields, especially the housewares industry.
The private graveside Funeral service was held on March 5. Anyone wishing to honor Carol's memory donations to the Robert Lazerowitz Fund at the Fair Lawn Jewish Center/CBI would be appreciated.
Carol touched the lives of so many. She will be missed greatly but will always be remembered for the love and joy she brought to those who knew her.
