Cliffside Park - Sidney "Sid" Gottlieb, 95, passed away on October 3, 2021, surrounded by his family.
Sid was a devoted husband of 72years to Mae, and a fabulous father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was a successful businessman who was never afraid to take risks. Sid was a natural athlete who played semi-professional softball in his younger years and then tennis for the last 40 years. He prided himself on his fitness doing daily pushups and situps into his 90’s. Sid was written up in the bergen 201 magazine as the“cliffside park iron man” after he won the 100-meter dash in the then-senior Olympics at the age of 91. His family and friends knew to never call him before noon on Sunday as he enjoyed watching his political tv shows. sid, who was never shy, didn’t have to be asked twice to get up and sing at any event. thankfully, he could sing like Frank Sinatra who was his favorite singer. he had movie-star looks and talent and was also very intelligent. Sidney was a World War II veteran serving as a cryptographer. Sid had a zest for life. The word “can’t” was not in his vocabulary.
He was dearly loved by his family and is survived by his children Ellen Gottlieb Germain (John), Ron Gottlieb(Cora); his grandchildren, Alex Germain, Kim Germain Rauscher(Mike), Rachel Gottlieb Smith (Eric), Evan Gottlieb (Chloe) and his great-grandchildren, Talia, Ethan Amalia, and Leah. He was an amazing man who will be dearly missed.
