Roberta (Bobbie) Mae Kraus (nee Passeltiner), age 92, died Saturday, December 25. Born in the Bronx, NY, she attended Washington, D.C. public schools, including Central High School. She received her teaching degree from Wilson Teachers College and became a beloved, award-winning first-grade teacher and highly regarded mentor to student teachers for over thirty years, including nearly 30 years in Wayne where she lived for nearly 60 years. She was an active and dedicated member of Temple Beth Tikvah in Wayne, a proud member of its choir, and a volunteer at the Y, reading to young children for many years after she retired. Devoted wife to her sweetheart Robert Laks Kraus for more than 67 years until his death in 2018, doting sister to Bern Passeltiner and his wife, Pam, loving mother to Beth Sher and Rabbi Jonathan Kraus and his wife, Amy Levine Kraus, adoring grandfather to Jessica Sher Marcus and her husband, Davey Marcus, to Julie Sher, Jacob Kraus and his fiance, Casey Wright, and Abigail Kraus, and proud great-grandmother to Robbie and Jamie Marcus. Funeral services were held on Monday, December 27th at Temple Beth Tikvah in Wayne. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Temple Beth Tikvah or to Reading is Fundamental.
