Seymour Woda, 89, of Riverdale, New York, passed away on February 13, 2022.
Sy was born on November 22, 1932 to Eva and Abraham Woda in the Bronx, NY. After Seymour graduated from Peter Stuyvesant High School in 1949, he went on to study Accounting at City College of New York. He enlisted in the ROTC and served in Korea for two years. Even after fulfilling his ROTC commitment, he continued his service as an officer in the Army Reserve’s 77th AARCOM division where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
After returning from Korea, he worked as an accountant at Gimbels department store where he met his wife, Barbara. He later opened his own accounting practice where he became friends with most of his clients.
Sy had a wonderful sense of humor. Even when times were tough for him, he maintained an incredible sense of humor and optimism. He never complained or took simple things for granted.
In his spare time, there was nothing Sy enjoyed more than spending time with his family. He instilled the values of hard work, education, respect, and the importance of family in his children and grandchildren.
Sy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara and his two sons and their families – Jeffrey and Jenny, Howard and Nancy and his grandchildren Adam and Joshua. He is greatly missed by his family and friends.
