Florence Kantor, a long-time resident of Bergen County, passed away peacefully on April 25th, 2022 at the age of 91 at her home in Westwood. She raised three children with her husband Stanley and enjoyed being a homemaker. Florence always had creative projects: knitting sweaters, quilting, canning, doing needlepoint; her cookies were legendary!
A life-long avid reader, she started a book club at the Hillsdale Public Library and led it for 40-plus years. Florence and Stanley were members of the Ridgewood Camera Club, where she was a treasurer. After retiring from her job managing a health food store, she and her husband traveled extensively, crisscrossing the country 15 times in as many years in their motorhome. They stayed a month at a time at many of our National Parks to photograph natural wonders. These expeditions often lead them to the west coast where they would visit two of their adult children, and of course, take more pictures!
In her later years, Florence loved doing Tai Chi at the Westwood Senior Center. She joined a crochet club which made blankets for disabled veterans, homeless, and hospitalized people.
Florence’s relationships were very important to her. She was a very loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband. Florence leaves behind her daughters Gail and Barbara, her son Alan, daughter-in-law, Leslie, grandsons Thomas and Jacob, granddaughter Ada, and great-granddaughter Rowen. She was a kind, funny, gracious human being. We will all miss her very much.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Monday, May 2nd at Robert Schoems Menorah Chapel, followed by interment at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Ave, Paramus, NJ
